The Abruzzese Tondino bean was historically grown along the valleys of the Tavo and Nora rivers, once rich in mills. Rustichella d'Abruzzo, with the PrimoGrano Line created to enhance the typical products of the Abruzzo tradition of the Vestina area, today proposes this ancient legume to its admirers, to rediscover the genuine flavors of the past. With a spherical shape no larger than 6-8 mm and a characteristic color ranging from white to ivory, the Tondino has a very thin and shiny skin, imperceptible after cooking. With a unique, unmistakable and delicate taste, this particular legume is rigorously selected and harvested by hand, representing in fact a high quality product indissolubly to the Abruzzo region. Usually used for the preparation of rustic soups, it was consumed as an alternative to meat. For this reason, countless recipes featuring this ancient Abruzzo legume have been handed down from mother to daughter.
